## Our commitment

We build merkbaar.nl to the WCAG 2.2 guidelines at level AA. We are not legally required to: the European Accessibility Act does not apply to small businesses such as ours. We do it because a brand that rings true should be readable for everyone, with a mouse, a keyboard, a screen reader or on a small screen.

## Status

This website largely meets WCAG 2.2 level AA. Below is what we do and what does not fully work yet.

## How we tested

On 17 October 2026 we checked the homepage, a pillar page, the contact page, a Brand Thinking™ article and a case ourselves. We used an automated test (axe-core) and checked by hand keyboard operation, display on a narrow screen and the "reduced motion" setting. No external audit has been carried out.

## What we do

- Everything works with the keyboard, with a visible focus outline and a link to skip straight to the content.
- The menu and the contact panel keep the focus inside and close with Esc.
- If "reduced motion" is switched on on your device, everything stands still and all text stays readable.
- You can pause the showreels and the band of client logos.
- Images have a description, and headings follow a logical order.
- Text colours meet the required contrast; secondary text is set in #444444 on white (9.7:1).
- The site works without horizontal scrolling on a screen 320 pixels wide.
- No cookies, no trackers and no content from third parties.

## Known limitations

- **Filling text.**  A few large sentences fill word by word as you scroll. Words that have not filled yet are light grey and have too little contrast. Screen readers read the whole sentence straight away, and with "reduced motion" the sentence appears in full immediately.
- **Videos.**  The showreels and case films have no sound and do not yet have a text description of what you see.
- **Not yet tested.**  A full test with a screen reader and at 200% text zoom will follow at the next check.
